GOT- “The Wars to Come”

I thought the season opener superb, but you can already easily see how the series will begin to diverge from the books. Thank God.

Which is more than fine by me, for whereas I think that Martin is the best fantasy author of his generation, and sometimes even borders upon the Shakespearean, he meanders relentlessly in his books, ad nauseum, at times.

I am hopeful this morose meandering on the part of Martin can be put to good use by the script writers who can perhaps finally start sewing together the many unwoven and unfinished threads of the books into a single coherent literary vision and perhaps even a, gasp, eventual conclusion.
