The Lyre of Megiddo

Amazing Classical Music

I decided to post something a little different. The man in this video made a replica of an ancient instrument which is known as the Lyre of Megiddo. Megiddo is also known as Armageddon. The lyre is made after an image on a piece of ivory that stems from the time of the biblical King David. King David was known to have played a harp, so it is very likely that is was an instrument much like this one.

Peter Pringle not only made this instrument, he plays it too. The sound is utterly enthralling. It sounds both ancient and modern at the same time. I would very much like to hear more music like this. How about you?

If you like this then you might also enjoy Ancient Roman Music. It holds the same sort of fascination for me.
